Principles Purpose
  1. Consent before capture. Require explicit permission to photograph any subject, pre-defining when, where, and how, and take no shot containing any part of any non-consenting person.
  2. Privacy by default. Data is not shared with anyone but the subject. By default, data is deleted after being given to the subject. Subjects may opt in to organization-managed retention for organization publicity.
  3. Ownership for the subject by default. All media of a subject is waived and given absolutely to the subject, unless the subject allows Chaos Press to maintain copies, or to publish under a Creative Commons license.
  1. Provide free, high-quality, consent-based portrait photography for speakers, workshop organizers, event organizers, and performers at hacker events, while protecting the privacy of everyone in attendance.
  2. Attend hacker events around the world, coordinate with event organizers, and advertise to speakers.
  3. Organize on-site to share responsibilities: advertising, communication, scheduling, photojournalism, and data management.
